Author: Caitlin Both of my sons had been wearing See Kai Run or Eleven shoes pretty much exclusively when they outgrew soft soled shoes. The only problem was that being boys, they pretty much destroyed that beautiful buttery soft leather in less than a week. So, this summer, with my boys being 4 and 2 1/2, I began the hunt for a more durable summer shoe.
I decided on the Keen due to other stellar reviews I read on the web, and because they're waterproof. I tried to figure out the sizing by comparing the actual measurements to the SKR/Eleven measurements. I ordered up 2 sizes based on those numbers, but I was wrong. They both ended up needing only one size larger than their SKR/Eleven shoe size.
The Keens are nowhere near as flexible as the SKR or the Eleven brands, but they sure are durable and the boys love them. My 4 year old can put them on himself, and my 2 1/2 year old can too, with a bit of effort. They do get pretty stinky, which has never been a problem with my boys' feet before, but I throw them in the wash on the delicate cycle and air dry them, and they don't seem any worse for the wear.
This is definitely going to be our staple summer shoe, and I think they'll even hold up well enough to be passed down to younger siblings!
Author: Amy My son has had two pairs of KEEN sandals and we love them. He wears them everywhere. I love that they are stiffer because he tends to walk on his toes and this makes it more difficult. He has worn them in the water at the beach, but they do take a bit of time to dry. They hold up well and we have passed a pair onto his sister.
